Phone-hacking trial: Jury fail to reach verdict on final charge, trial resumes tommorrow

By James Doleman Just after 5.45pm the 11 remaining members of the jury at the trial of Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson told the court they had failed to reach a verdict on a charge that former News of the World editor Coulson conspired with the newspaper’s then Royal editor Clive Goodman to commit misconduct in a public office. Coulson, now sitting alone in the large glass-fronted dock, remained expressionless as the presiding judge, Mr Justice Saunders, dismissed the jury for the night. Jellyfish teams with Japan’s Frontier Digital Marketing

Sochi Winter Olympics adds $600m extra ad spend in Q1

By Ishbel Macleod Total advertising expenditures increased by 5.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2014 to $34.9bn, Kantar Media has found, with the Winter Olympics being responsible for the growth. Internet display expenditures grew 13 per cent, while outdoor grew by 2.8 per cent and cable TV expenditures increased 6.2 per cent. “The Winter Olympics delivered its expected windfall in the first quarter, adding about $600m of incremental ad spending to the marketplace.
