Tim Cook says Apple TV+ won’t have ads anytime soon

By Andrew Blustein Don’t expect to see any ads on Apple TV+. “We feel strongly that what that customer wants is an ad-free product,” Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive officer, said on an earnings call today (28 January) when asked if the company’s streaming service will make room for ads. Apple has a wide range of consumer data it gleans from product sales, subscription services and credit card business that it could use to target TV+ viewers with ads. Las Vegas pauses tourism campaign in wake of Kobe Bryant death

By John Glenday The city of Las Vegas has postponed all activity related to an ad campaign until an unspecified later date, as a mark of respect following the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash on Sunday. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) took the step despite having already booked in the advertisement for this year’s Grammy’s, where the promotion ran as first envisaged. ASA pushed to prevent influencers and brands from selling 'perfectionism'

By Stephen Lepitak An application has been made to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Instagram to introduce a new code that will prevent brands and influencers from promoting “perfectionism”. The initiative is being led by Chris Ward, a former creative director of Comic Relief and 1Goal (an organisation which focused on driving the legacy left by the Fifa World Cup).
