Scotland’s highest ranking police constable, Sir Stephen House, has publicly equated the rise in so-called trolls posting abusive messages on the likes of Twitter with past graffiti artists daubing messages on city streets.
Singling out Twitter for attention House cited the micro-blogging service as one possible reason for an apparent decline in vandalism and other anti-social activity, with perpetrators electing to conduct such behaviour in the online world rather than venture outside.
