Facebook has acknowledged the rise of video consumption – and the static nature of its user pages – by testing the use of profile videos.
Unveiled by Facebook product managers Aigerim Shorman and Tony Hsieh, new features being piloted with iPhone users in the UK and California, see users capable of uploading short videos as their ‘Profile Video’.
Much like Snapchat’s ‘Stories’ or a Vine, the GIF-like uploads let users express their creativity, and increases their likelihood of engaging with video content on the social network.
