Intel has made further investment into the wearable technology sector after it announced the acquisition of Basis Science, maker of wristband health trackers, into its Devices Group.
The US chipmaker said the move would “accelerate Intel’s wearable products focus” and extend the company’s capabilities in the area.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of Basis Science provides immediate entry into the market with a leader in health tracking for wearable devices,” said Mike Bell, Intel vice president and general manager of the company’s New Devices Group.
