Adblock Plus has sealed a partnership with a startup that allows adblockers to pay publishers in exchange for viewing their content.
The adblock extension is one of the prominent companies decoupling publishers from their revenue generating online ads, but with a undisclosed investment into Flattr.
The theory is that the partnership will help make up for lost income with web user donations.
A new product, Flattr Plus enables users to donate a monthly fee across their most visited sites.
As a web browser extension, the company says it wants to reward “engagement and retention” rather than mere page views.
