Aldi vows ‘healthier tills’ with ban of sweets from checkout

Aldi will ban all confectionary, including chocolate and sweets from its checkout points from January 2015, in a move that mirrors that of rival Tesco.

Tesco agreed to remove confectionary from the tills across all of its stores in May this year after it found 65 per cent of shoppers wanted healthier choices put in the prime-selling spot instead.
