Broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan dies aged 77

Broadcaster and Eurovision Song Contest veteran Sir Terry Wogan has passed away aged 77.

The Limerick-born presenter had a career that spanned 50 years on television and radio, and was involved with Children in Need since its inception.

According to a statement from his family Wogan died after a short battle with cancer.

“He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many, the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time,” the statement read in a report by the BBC.
