A ban on mobile phone usage by students in New York City schools has been lifted.
The restriction was implemented during former mayor, Michael Bloomberg’s administration. However, current mayor, Bill de Blasio, has always been against the policy, saying it was a safety issue.
“I think it is, for parents, very, very important to know how to reach their kids, and we have to come up with a universal way to make sure that that opportunity is there for our young people,” he told reporters last fall.
