Adobe acquires Aviary to help bring the Creative Cloud to third-party apps

Adobe has acquired cloud-photo editing platform Aviary for an unspecified sum in a move which will see photoshop technology integrated with the firm’s apps.

The image-editing giant will now have access to Aviary’s creative editing software development kit which allows third party app developers to alter and upload images to popular sites such as Flickr and Tumblr.

With the acquisition, Adobe will seek to encourage creatives to use Adobe’s Creative Cloud, increasing the traffic on the service, through Aviary supported apps.
