Alibaba signs agreement with Malaysian and Chinese governments to encourage ecommerce and SME growth
Alibaba, Malaysia’s Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Hangzhou Municipal Government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to connect e-hubs under the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP).
This follow’s the launch of Alipay in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia.
The MOU will have the three parties seek to build infrastructure for seamless cross-border e-commerce trade between Malaysia and China, as well as explore potential strategic collaborations.
All parties will facilitate cooperation between public and private enterprises in Hangzhou and Malaysia to provide easier access to customs clearance, inspection and permit issuance for SMEs to do cross-border trade.
