Ashley Madison members hit by data breach

Members of controversial dating website Ashley Madison, which endorses infidelity, are being warned of a data breach in which customer data was stolen by hackers.

The unidentified attackers claim to have obtained information including ‘all the customers’ secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions’ but this has not been confirmed by the site’s owners, who merely acknowledge an unspecified ‘intrusion’.

In a statement Ashley Madison owners Avid Life Media said: “We apologise for this unprovoked and criminal intrusion into our customers’ information.”
