BBC director general Tony Hall concerned about government influence over broadcaster
Following the government’s long-anticipated white paper on the future of the BBC, the broadcaster’s director general Tony Hall has voiced “honest disagreement” with some of the proposed measures.
The chief has expressed fears over the fact that the Downing Street will be able to appoint six members of the BBC’s new executive board, something the corporation said represents a potential threat to its independence.
