Disney designs augmented reality colouring book app
Disney has designed an augmented reality colouring app to get children to pick up a pencil in the world of digital devices.
The entertainment company said it developed the app to overcome the challenge that real-life activities like colouring can seem dull to children given the proliferation of digital devices.
The app works by children colouring characters in a printed coloring book and then inspecting their work using a mobile device. The drawing is detected and tracked, and the video stream is augmented with an animated 3-D version of the character that is textured according to the child’s colouring.
