Former BBC editor Caroline Raphael to join Penguin Random House

Penguin Random House has appointed Caroline Raphael as editorial director, audio.

The former BBC Radio 4 commissioning editor is to be tasked with growing the publisher’s digital and physical audio list.

Raphael joins the firm after 30 years at the BBC, where she was credited with the development of several well-known series, including The League of Gentlemen, Little Britain, Cabin Pressure and Dead Ringers.

Videl Bar-Kar, audio publisher at Penguin Random House UK, said Raphael’s “unrivalled ability” in understanding audiences and discovering fresh talent would help the company expand its spoken word offering.
