Google backs DIY handheld games console for children

Google is putting its considerable financial heft behind an initiative to create a new handheld games console, designed specifically to teach children how to code.
The technology giant will contribute $100k to technology education organisations Code Club and Technology Will Save Us from its RISE fund to finance the device, which will be built by 900 UK children.
The cash will be used to give a DIY Gamer Kit to each child for free, which contains 40 custom circuit boards which must be soldered together to build the device.
