Google’s Chromecast TV dongle hits UK shores

Google is continuing its quest to branch out into ever more domains with the launch of its low-cost Chromecast dongle in the UK, a simple stick which turns any dumb telly with an HDMI connection into a smart TV.
Retailing for a budget £30 the device relies on a WiFi signal to ‘cast’ content from connected devices directly onto the big screen, enabling owners to catch up on services such as BBC iPlayer and Netflix.
The tech enables any content playable on a smartphone or tablet to be relayed to the television with input commands deliverable direct from a smartphone keypad.
