HeraldScotland launches ‘Twitterendum’ gauge designed by Equator

HeraldScotland, one of Scotland’s leading national newspapers, has partnered with digital marketing agency Equator to create the ‘Twitterendum”, an online gauge to monitor the real-time sentiment of tweets related to the upcoming referendum on Scottish independence.

Grant McLennan, the Equator developer who developed the Twitterendum, said: “Some believe that there is a direct correlation between the amount of “talk” surrounding a campaign and the number of votes received by a campaign on polling day. This was certainly true of the US Congressional Election in 2010 but, generally speaking, it’s not the most scientific of measures.
