James Naughtie departs Today programme after two decades
Veteran radio presenter James Naughtie has left the Today programme to join Radio 4 as a special correspondent, also taking up a role as the BBC News books editor.
Radio 4’s second longest serving presenter behind John Humphries, Naughtie will leave his role at the start of 2016.
The BBC said Naughtie, in the special correspondent role, will be responsible for “charting the course of the constitutional changes at the heart of the UK political debate – devolution and independence, parliamentary reform and the changes in the UK’s relations with Europe”.
Naughtie tweeted the news on Tuesday morning.
