Microsoft CEO apologises for suggesting women should not ask for raises but instead wait for ‘karma’

Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella has apologised for saying that women should not ask for a raise but wait to be given one by ‘trusting the system’ and ‘karma’, stating “my advice underestimated exclusion and bias”.

Making the apology in an internal memo, Nadella, who faced a public backlash for his comments, said: “One of the answers I gave at the conference was generic advice that was just plain wrong. I apologise.
