Nintendo considers Robin Williams Legend of Zelda tribute character

Japanese game developer Nintendo has said it “won’t rule out a request” to name a character after actor Robin Williams in the next installment of the Legend of Zelda franchise.

Williams, who was an avid fan of Nintendo, starred in a series of ads for the company two years ago. In one he revealed he named his daughter after one of the game’s lead characters, princess Zelda.

Over 100,000 people have signed a petition to have the Oscar-winning actor appear in a future Zelda game.

A Nintendo spokesman said: “Nothing has been decided, but we won’t rule out the request.”
