Sainsbury’s granted Judicial Review over ASA ruling on Tesco’s ‘Price Promise’
The High Court has granted Sainsbury’s leave to proceed with a Judicial Review of the Advertising Standards Authorities’ (ASA) ruling over Tesco’s ‘Price Promise’.
This follows Sainsbury’s challenging a ruling by the ASA in July last year, which allowed Tesco to compare Sainsbury’s Fair Trade Every Day Tea basics with its own, non fair trade range. Sainsbury’s argued that Tesco Price Promise was misleading, saying it “compared apples with pears” by failing to take into account product attributes such as relative quality, provenance and ethics.
