Sainsbury’s shutters mobile division as Vodafone partnership crumbles

Sainsbury’s is set to shut up shop on its mobile offering after two years in the game with carrier Vodafone.

From 15 January 2016, the supermarket will cease marketing and stocking the monthly mobile plans from Vodafone after talks between the companies broke down.

Vodafone and Sainsbury’s said in a statement: “We regret that Mobile by Sainsbury’s – a joint venture between Sainsbury’s and Vodafone UK – offering a mobile phone service to Sainsbury’s customers is ending and the service will no longer be available from 15 January 2016.
