Today’s independence vote has been marked in stylised fashion by the Scottish Sun which has dispensed with imagery for its polling day special edition to run with a simple message: “Yes or No. Today Scotland starts with a blank page.”

Around the void a sequence of hands were depicted holding pens ready to begin writing history.

Twitter reaction to the cover were muted with Andrew Neil offering this tongue in cheek perspective.
