Trinity Mirror to create regional newspaper empire with £220m takeover of Local World
Trinity Mirror looks set to take on Newsquest’s local newspaper empire with a £220m takeover of Local World.
If the deal is finalised it will see Trinity Mirror take control of over 100 regional titles which the London-based Local World owns. The takeover will also include a 70 websites which will help Trinity Mirror build on the 93.4 million unique browsers it had in September and boost ad revenue.
Trinity Mirror currently has a 20 per cent stake in the company, and a regional newspaper portfolio which includes titles such as the Birmingham Mail, Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo.
