A upstart property website launched by a coalition of high street estate agents in a bid to dethrone Rightmove and Zoopla from the top of the digital pecking tree in their industry has been described as ‘doomed to fail’ by the founder of Carphone Warehouse.

On TheMarket is launched today as an alternative to the established hierarchy of online property renting and purchase but is already facing criticism for attempting to stymie competition rather than foster it.
