By Jessica Davies Unilever will unveil its first programmatic mobile marketing platform – Konnect – at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this afternoon. The FMCG giant has likened Konnect, which is based on Brandtone’s mobile marketing platform, to a “Bloomberg terminal for marketers”, letting marketers send targeted campaigns at scale to an opt-in database of customers. Unilever is the first user of Konnect and will launch initially in India ahead of planned rollouts in China and Indonesia. Read MoreBy John Glenday Ericsson and Philips have announced that they are to collaborate on a smart street lighting initiative which will entail connecting lamp standards to mobile broadband links. The LED street lighting model is intended to usher in greater energy efficiency for urban areas by renting space on lighting poles to network service providers to offset the cost of installation. Philips reckon the new lighting technology can net savings of between 50 and 70 per cent, rising to 80 per cent when coupled with smart controls.
