Total TV viewing falls 4.5% in 2014 with TV sets remaining UK viewers screen of choice

By Gillian West TV viewing has fallen by 4.5 per cent according to the latest Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB) figures. Total daily TV viewing in the UK during 2014 averaged at three hours, 44 minutes and 30 seconds per person, a drop of 10 minutes and 30 seconds per day from 2013, with the drop in TV set viewing to blame. The figures revealed that viewing on other screens such as tablets, smartphones and laptops grew 17 per cent year on year. Apple chief defends "basic human right" to privacy as personal information is "trafficked around"

By Gillian West Apple chief Tim Cook has defended the “basic human right” of privacy and that too much personal information is being “trafficked around” with consumers not fully understanding what is going on. Speaking to the Telegraph during a tour of Europe and Israel, Cook said that the public should not accept “the government or a company or anybody” having access to private information. “This is a basic human right. By Gillian West McDonald’s compared its Big Mac ingredients to iconic films in its Oscars ad spot last weekend. Set to the soundtrack of many a movie – Debussy’s ‘Clair de lune’ – the simple ad likens movies such as King Kong, ET, Jaws and The Silence of the Lambs to the fast food chain’s signature burger. The reminder that ‘Lovin’ takes the right ingredients’ might be minimalist but we think McDonald’s played a winner with this one. TFI Friday to return for 20th anniversary special

TalkTalk warns customers to be aware of scammers following data hack

By Gillian West TalkTalk has emailed its customers to warn that hackers have managed to steal account numbers and names from the company’s database. The email states that scammers are using the stolen data to trick customers in to handing over bank details.
