on Aug 30, 2019

By Katie Deighton Dior has defended its use of Native American traditions in its latest campaign promoting the Johnny Depp-fronted Sauvage fragrance, which has been labeled as a practice in cultural appropriation. Central to the creative is a film starring Canku Thomas One Star, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, performing a traditional Native American war dance clothed in traditional dress in his local territory. Set to premiere on Monday (1 September), Dior has so far only teased the spot with clips posted on Instagram and Twitter. By John Glenday YouTube is going for broke in an increasingly competitive market for streaming subscribers by lowering its paywall for new shows during a limited window to maximise audiences. The decision firmly pins YouTube’s colors to the ad-funded mast and will hand it a significant advantage in that respect over the likes of Apple, Disney and Netflix in an increasingly competitive battle for eyeballs. The decision will allow anyone to watch content on the streaming platform for free, including killer app programming such as cult Karate Kid follow-up series Cobra kai, for free, with revenues instead being drawn Read full story › Source: The Drum...

What’s your brand body language?

on Aug 30, 2019

By Jacob Wright In 1971 “Silent Messages” by Albert Mehrabian was published creating one of the world’s most dubious statistics – that 93% of communication is non-verbal. While it’s unlikely that a figure like this is accurate (or indeed even possible to calculate) it’s certainly true that body language has a huge effect on how people process the words that come out of someone’s mouth. If you watched Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton debate in 2016 you’ll be aware of this. Although Clinton may have verbally “won” the arguments, Trump’s commanding pose and air of authority convinced many of the viewers that Read full story › Source: The Drum...
