The Independent for sale “at the right price” says owner Evgeny Lebedev

By Jennifer Faull Evgeny Lebedev, owner of the Independent, has said that the newspaper could be for sale at the “right price” although he is “not actively trying to sell it.” Lebedev, who owns the London Evening Standard and Independent, said both newspapers have improved circulations and revenue since he took control. He stated that the Evening Standard has gone from a circulation of 700,000 to 900,000 and, from losing £30m a year, is now in profit. Only 8% of US adults use Twitter for news

According to a new study from Pew Research, 30 per cent of American adults who use Facebook do so to keep up to date with news. However, only eight per cent of the overall user base on Twitter use it for news. The figure for YouTube was a fraction higher, with 10 per cent of those on the platform using it to get news.
