By Ishbel Macleod Facebook has revealed that it does not use GPS to target ads “right now”, following the roll out of Nearby Friends and Location History, but has not mentioned if this is something that will be implemented in the future. Amnesty International looks to stamp out torture and arms trade with Freedom Candles

By Ishbel Macleod Amnesty International has unveiled 30 special candles, created by Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk, with each wax sculpture burning down to a new bronze figure, with the aim of showing how human rights activism can help. Advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather London is behind the creative concept and developed the film for the Amnesty International Freedom Candles, which shows the three candles before they are burned, and after. Facebook unveils optional feature Nearby Friends to help make meeting up with friends easier

By Ishbel Macleod Facebook has launched a new feature, Nearby Friends that, when activated, will allow users to discover the whereabouts of their friends, whether to check that they’ll make it to the cinema on time, or to see where they are travelling to. Lions Gate Entertainment consolidates marketing operations as Nancy Kirkpatrick steps down

By Jennifer Faull Lions Gate Entertainment has lost Nancy Kirkpatrick, president of marketing for Summit – a label it acquired in 2012 – during the process of integrating it with the Lionsgate studio. Kirkpatrick resigned from the position and will leave the company in two weeks with Tim Palen, currently CMO at Lionsgate, taking over her duties and becoming the top marketer for movies coming out of the overarching Lionsgate and Summit label.
