Chelsea rubber stamps tyre manufacturer as official shirt partner for £40m per year

By John Glenday Chelsea Football Club has named The Yokohama Rubber Company as its latest official shirt partner in what it says is its largest ever commercial deal, ending a 10 year partnership with Samsung. In a five year deal the tyre manufacturers branding will appear on player’s shirts from the 2015/16 season onwards after Yokohama’s chairman, Tadanobu Nagumo, flew into London to sign the deal alongside Chelsea Chairman Bruce Buck, Manager José Mourinho and Captain John Terry. Charlton FC centre circle sex video stunt hits the spot

By John Glenday Charlton Athletic has admitted that viral footage of an amorous couple getting frisky in their grounds was in fact a stage-managed publicity stunt to promote its pitch hire services. ‘Leaked’ CCTV footage from the ground apparently showed a couple having sex in the centre circle of the pitch in the dead of night went viral yesterday as the club apparently launched an investigation to find the culprits. Google consolidates European operations under Matt Brittin

By John Glenday Google has streamlined its European arm by promoting its northern European operations head Matt Brittin to oversee the company’s continent wide strategy – including the Middle East and Africa. Previously the business was split along geographic lines between north and south but will now be treated as a single entity, according to the New York Times, making it one of the search giant’s largest jurisdictions with 742m people. Edinburgh Fringe Festival names Mediacom Edinburgh as media agency

Appointed by the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, the Edinburgh-based media planner and buyer will take over from AKA in servicing the account.
