Google to run app ads in Play store

By John McCarthy Google Play is to begin testing search-based ads in a bid to unlock new revenue streams from its sprawling eco-system. The move will see the Android digital store introduce search-based ads to drive awareness of apps and lift the profile of those that otherwise might have missed. Google to bring paid search to Google Play store

By Kaltrina Bylykbashi The company announced in a blog post today (26 Feb) that it will begin piloting sponsored search results on Google Play over the next few weeks. Paid search will allow advertisers to bid on certain search terms such as “coupon app” or “travel app”, much like they do on Google’s web search. Amazon hires former White House press secretary Jay Carney

By Minda Smiley Jay Carney is joining Amazon as senior vice president for worldwide corporate affairs, Politico reported. According to Politico, Carney will start this Monday and will report directly to CEO Jeff Bezos. Politico states that under Carney, Amazon’s worldwide public relations and public policy shops will be brought into one department. “He’ll split his time between Seattle HQ and the D.C. office, where Amazon veteran Paul Misener will continue to run the company’s lobbying efforts,” the article said.
