Google Maps goes vertical with Yosemite El Capitan street view ascent

By John McCarthy Google Maps has embarked on a mission to take web users on unique journeys be it the Amazon canopy, Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley, the Arabian desert or even the human body. However, it’s latest mapping adventure was more ambitious than ever, with it sending a production team up Yosemite’s El Capitan cliff face to capture 360 degree footage for the service. NUJ president Andy Smith says good journalism and knowledge of online media is key to competing

The video, which features The Jackson 5 hit ‘ABC,’ has been voted by US Creative Department readers as Ad of the Week. With the hashtag ‘#BikeWhileWorking,’ the campaign’s goal was to encourage people to cycle to work no matter how busy they are.
