Condé Nast chief Nicholas Coleridge enjoys pay increase to £1.3m as UK profits almost double

By Cameron Clarke Condé Nast’s UK managing director Nicholas Coleridge saw his pay soar 38 per cent to £1.3m last year as profits at the company’s British arm almost doubled. The publisher of titles including Vogue, GQ and Tatler saw reported pre-tax profits increase from £8.78m to £16.55m last year. The strong performance saw Coleridge, who is also president of Condé Nast International, enjoy a pay boost from £931,900 to £1.29m, according to the Guardian. Al-Jazeera journalists sentenced to three years in prison by Egyptian court

By Cameron Clarke Three Al-Jazeera journalists have been sentenced to three years in jail by a court in Egypt after being convicted of “spreading false news”. Canadian national Mohammed Fahmy, Australian journalist Peter Greste and Egyptian producer Baher Mohammed were sentenced on Saturday at a retrial in Cairo. Greste was on trial in absentia having been deported to Australia earlier this year. The three journalists were originally sentenced in July 2014, with Greste and Fahmy receiving seven years and Mohamed 10 years, before their convictions were overturned in January following an international outcry.
