Carlsberg launches crowdsourcing campaign in a bid to be more environmentally friendly

By Tony Connelly Carlsberg is looking to boost its green credentials through a crowdsourcing competition which looking for ideas on how to make its beer more sustainable. The Danish brewing company has partnered with Copenhagen-based think tank Sustainia to launch its “Cheers to Green Ideas” competition which it hopes will help the company promote a more environmentally friendly image and also inspire change in consumer behaviour. The initiative is looking for ideas from both the public and businesses on how Carlsberg could improve the environmental impact of beer across the whole production process including production of raw materials, brewing and transportation and recycling of packaging. Russia investigates Apple over 'gay propaganda' emojis

By John McCarthy Russian authorities are investigating Apple for “promoting homosexuality” with its series of same-sex couple emojis. Following chief executive Tim Cook announcing he is “proud to be gay,” in October, the company has come under close scrutiny in Russia. Previously Apple landed in hot water for the cover of its U2 gift album ‘Songs of Innocence’ due to an image of band member Larry Mullen hugging his topless son Elvis being misconstrued as gay propaganda. Facebook and Google make a bigger play for advertisers with mobile product launches

By Leonie Roderick Google is adding two new products to its advertising portfolio – ‘Customer Match’ and ‘Universal App Campaigns’ – that will better track the consumer journey on various mobile devices. ‘Customer Match’ enables marketers to develop customised campaigns for customers who are part of a brand’s loyalty programme or have made a previous purchase across Google Search, YouTube and Gmail. Uber seeks legal advice as New South Wales government cracks down on its drivers

By Tony Connelly Uber is seeking legal advice after 40 of its drivers in New South Wales had their vehicle registrations suspended following a government crackdown on illegal ride-sharing services. The ride-sharing company is looking to expand into as many territories as possible globally but fierce resistance from taxi drivers and clashes with governmental regulations continues to damage the company’s image.
