BBC 'worried unknown Chris Evans could hurt Top Gear's international appeal'

By Staff Writer BBC bosses are reported to be concerned that Top Gear’s lucrative international popularity could be harmed because new host Chris Evans is not familiar to overseas viewers. Under the steering of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, Top Gear became a global hit amassing 350 million viewers in 214 territories. As a result, the motoring show is said to be worth £50m a year to the corporation’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide. BlackBerry to launch new phone running on Android operating system

By Cameron Clarke Beleaguered BlackBerry has announced that its new smartphone will run on the Android operating system in its latest attempt to turn around its fortunes. The new phone, dubbed Priv, will also feature an 18-megapixel camera to combat complaints over the quality of the company’s phone cameras. Scotsman staff set for strike ballot over production job cuts

By Cameron Clarke Scotsman staff will ballot over strike action after a third of production staff were told they face redundancy. Publisher Johnston Press intends to cut 12 of the 32 production staff that produce the Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday, the Edinburgh Evening News, a number of magazines and two weekly newspapers.
