Havas Group forms Ecselis digital performance unit

By John McCarthy Havas Group has launched specialist digital performance unit Ecselis to combine technology, data, creative and media across UK Group. A team of 60 staff will offer paid search, SEO, performance display, conversion rate optimisation (CRO), affiliate marketing and dynamic creative optimisation (DCO) service to the group’s clients. Under the leadership of Ian Thomson as head of Ecselis UK, the unit will bring together media, technology, creative and data for a number of multi-channel performance products. Watchwith, a company that leverages programming metadata to help networks create second screen experiences, this week announced that it will make its technology available to networks to deploy in-program ads. Facebook signs up Go Pro, Star Wars and Vice for 360 video launch

Ofcom to triple spectrum charges for Vodafone, O2, EE and Three

By Tony Connelly Ofcom has announced that it will triple the spectrum charges for Britain’s mobile phone operators despite warnings from the companies that it would result in higher bills for customers and a delay in the roll-out of faster 4G networks. The telecoms regulator revealed that it will take £199.6m a year from charging Vodafone, O2, EE and Three to use Britain’s airwaves, which is more than three times the £64.4m it currently draws in.
