When to fire that freelancer you hired

on Nov 30, 2015

By Joseph Liu Earlier this week, I decided to cancel a project with a freelancer halfway through, wasting nearly two months of work. I had hired her to help me create a video animation to accompany a resource for career changers. The videos she submitted for final review was full of errors, incomplete edits, and illogical visuals. She also hadn’t been able to handle basic amends I had requested in prior creative rounds, and my doubts slowly built up. But I let things drag on anyway. One of the great aspects of being a small business owner is that you have the opportunity to Read full story › Source: The Drum...

Why ‘the bigger picture’ isn’t always a big help for copywriters

on Nov 30, 2015

By Andrew Boulton I may or may not have imagined a scene in a film where Burt Reynolds is simultaneously driving a speedboat, firing a machine gun and spooning out his finest ‘chat’ to an attractive lady. GroupM has accredited the growth to continued increases in employment rates, with a growth in Read full story › Source: The Drum...

Now that The Sun’s paywall is down, News UK is rethinking how it works with advertisers

on Nov 30, 2015

By Seb Joseph The Sun may be one of the country’s most well known media brands but News UK admits it hasn’t monetised this popularity as well it could have done, with its paywall coming down today (30 November) offering a chance to right those wrongs and instil a more progressive commercial attitude at the business. The red top’s paywall hasn’t “worked for us in the right way”, News UK commercial chief Dominic Carter concedes. It’s always been about “scale and being a part of the social fabric of the country”, he continued. And yet setting up a paywall to try and premiumise Read full story › Source: The Drum...
