By Ronan Shields Facebook’s total revenues surged 52 per cent year-on-year in the last three months of 2015 to hit $5.8bn, as the world’s largest social network boosted earnings based on the back of its increased focus on mobile and video advertising opportunities, with its share price rallying in the immediate aftermath of its Q4 release. Using its ‘eValue’ tool to rate the performance of US digital and print publications’ engagement, impact and responsiveness, the study concluded that print publications are out-performing better digital outlets on Facebook. It reasoned that “articles on Facebook have a longer shelf-life with the trending news section and popular news items staying at the top of users’ news feeds,” more suitable for the lengthier reads found in print.
