The Sun forced to admit '1 in 5 British Muslims' story was 'significantly misleading'

By Natalie Mortimer The Sun has been forced to admit that its front page splash which claimed that “1 in 5 Brit Muslims’ have sympathy for jihadis”, was “significantly misleading”. The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) ruled today (26 March) that the newspaper misrepresented the results of a poll, which formed the basis of the November article. The poll results had been reported by the newspaper as demonstrating that those surveyed showed “some sympathy with those like Jihadi John” the newspaper’s columnist stated as fact that there was “support” for IS, and sympathy with a “murderous, twisted ideology”. Social media ads influence 50% of US millenials

By Natalie Mortimer Marketers should take note that adverts on social media now influence 50 per cent of US millennial’s buying decisions, according to a new report. The Deloitte Digital Democracy study found that millennials aged 19-32 are also significantly influenced by social media ads, video game ads, and celebrity/online personality endorsements. More than 50 per cent of millennials now rank social media ads as having a high/medium influence over their buying decisions. Celebrity Big Brother, The X Factor and Eastenders on Ofcom's most complained about list

By Natalie Mortimer Ofcom has revealed its list of the most complained about TV shows in its 12-year history with Celebrity Big Brother taking the top spot. The media watchdog’s figures show that the programme led to 73,788 complaints in total since it began on Channel 4. Also in the list is The X Factor (ITV), which generated 20,548 complaints, Jerry Springer: The Opera (BBC Two 2) 8,860, and UKIP: The First 100 Days (Channel 4), 6,187. Sky News, Eastenders, and Britian’s Got Talent also featured. Virgin Atlantic plotting ‘affordable’ supersonic flights from UK to US

By Natalie Mortimer Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson is planning to launch a new service for his Virgin Atlantic brand that would see a flight from the UK to the US take just three and a half hours. The planned ‘affordable’ supersonic flight is expected to start at £1750, or £3500 return, a price that is considerably less than a flight with Concorde’s which cost £5400 one-way. Should the plan go ahead it would be possible to reach the New York from London faster than a train ride to Glasgow. It usually takes around seven hours to fly to NYC.
