McDonald's beginning to reassert its dominance in the fast food market following upturn in profits

By Tony Connelly McDonald’s efforts to re-establish its dominance over a growing number of healthier fast food competitors appears to be paying off after the popularity of its all-day breakfast and cut-price offers in the US helped boost profits by 35 per cent. The company reported a net profit of $1.1bn (£763m), a marked improvement on last year’s $811.5m. The profit follows on from better than expected US sales of 5.4 per cent and a 5.2 per cent jump in established markets including the UK and Australia. Adidas makes moves to portray itself as a more sustainable brand by banishing plastic bags

By Tony Connelly Adidas is promoting its green credentials with a vow to remove plastic shopping bags from its retail stores around the world. The move is expected to eliminate around 70 million bags per year and will be implemented across Adidas’ 3,000 retail stores effective “immediately.” As part of the initiative the German sports brand says it has agreements with the “vast majority” of its franchisees to switch to paper bags by the end of June. Cheerios tone deaf Prince tribute is the latest brand faux pas

By Tony Connelly General Mills’ Cheerios brand has suffered an embarrassing PR fail after its social media tribute to Prince was branded as ‘shameless’. The death of 57 year-old icon understandably shocked and saddened the world this week and, as has increasingly become the case these days, a number of brands attempted to place themselves within the social media conversation paying tribute the music legend. Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 1m vehicles following 41 injuries

By Minda Smiley Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 1.1m of its vehicles around the world following 41 injuries that have been related to driver confusion around whether or not their car is in ‘park.’ According to the company, the recall stems from the fact that drivers of the vehicles involved may mistakenly exit their cars without placing them in ‘park’ mode since the gear shifters depend on a light system instead of physical position, which some have found confusing.
