The Walking Dead – copywriting and the fight against zombie words

on Jul 20, 2016

By Andrew Boulton As anyone who has ever binged heartily on ‘The Walking Dead’ knows, there can be some pretty powerful residual effects. Most worrying amongst these is a disturbing urge to smash slow moving pedestrians in the head with a shovel. Less potentially convictable is a tendency to view aspects of your own life through the weary eyes of the shovel-wielders in the show. More specifically, twisted by an over-indulgence in the slobber and gore of a TV show, you begin to examine your own world as if the zombie apocalypse were just meandering grumblingly around the corner. Only for me, inescapably tethered Read full story › Source: The Drum...

Don’t drink and drive but… Ford partners with tequila brand Jose Cuervo to make better cars

Debbie Mielewski, Ford senior technical leader, sustainability research department, said: “At Ford, we aim to reduce our impact on the environment, as Read full story › Source: The Drum...

on Jul 20, 2016

By Matt Spector We shouldn’t be surprised. Through night one, the GOP convention has provided enough fodder for decades of research on the American psyche, the types of politics and decisions that have led to one of the most divisive moments in a global century, and a reshaping of many institutions the nation holds dear. The presumptive Republican nominee appeared in Cleveland last night in a cloud of Wrestlemania-blue fog. Even the most seasoned electoral prognosticators have admitted the now-miniscule sample size of the few election cycles in the modern era. In the new normal, the Libertarian candidate is getting a serious look from Read full story › Source: The Drum...

Report: 25 per cent of U.S. households forgo pay TV subscriptions

on Jul 20, 2016

By Adam Flomenbaum A new report from market research firm GfK shows that 25 per cent of U.S. households rely on over-the-air (OTA) or internet-only subscriptions to receive TV content. OTA-only households represent 17 per cent of all U.S. households – up from 15 per cent in 2015. Six per cent of households rely on internet-only subscriptions – consuming TV content only via a mix of YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, and other services – up from four per cent in 2015. “The fact that a statistically significant increase in broadcast-only reception occurred over just one year may be further proof that the cord-cutting/cord-never phenomenon is accelerating,” Read full story › Source: The Drum...
