Marketing jobs on the line as Tesco culls head office

By John Glenday Supermarket giant Tesco is looking to make further cost savings via another major retrenchment of head-office workers, casting doubt on the future of its marketing staff among others. A quarter of all posts at its Hatfield and Welwyn head offices are now up for the chop subject to a summer consultation exercise, equivalent to 1,200 staff. The news comes just one week after 1,100 call centre staff in Cardiff were told that their services would no longer be required. The Washington Post threatens to ‘terminate’ employees who disparage advertisers on social media

By John Glenday The Washington Post has unveiled a draconian new social media policy which threatens the ultimate sanction against any employee found to be bad mouthing advertisers on social media. The new policy covers any activity deemed to ‘adversely affects The Post’s customers, advertisers, subscribers, vendors, suppliers or partners’, with anyone falling foul of the rule potentially facing the sack.
