Tencent and JD.com team up to take on Alibaba, invest $863m in e-commerce player

By Danielle Long Tencent has partnered with e-commerce giant JD.com to invest $863m in online retailer Vipshop, in a bid to take on Alibaba. The deal strengthens the existing relationship between Tencent and JD.com and brings together China’s largest social media company with its largest retailer and second largest e-commerce company, and Vipshop, a leading online discount retailer for brands. Godrej Appliances aims to tackle allergens with its new product in the latest film

The film titled ‘Soch ke banaya hai’ (It has been made after thinking) is conceptualized by Creativeland Asia and opens with children practising a band performance in front of the music teacher and school principal. Asia Pacific registers the highest number of video plays on mobile, Ooyala's study finds

By Shawn Lim Asia Pacific leads the world in terms of video plays over mobile for the second quarter in a row at 64.4%, according to the third quarter 2017 Global Video Index study released by Ooyala. The study by the online video technology company found that globally, more than 58% of video plays occurred on mobile devices in the third quarter of 2017. United Colors of Benetton teams with with Oliviero Toscani to raise awareness about integration

As part of the campaign, Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani pictured 10 children representing different countries from Burkina Faso to the Philippines, from Italy to Senegal gathered round a teacher who’s reading Pinocchio. Underage drinking records down by 67% since 2003 in UK, reports NHS Digital

By Taruka Srivastav According to NHS Digital’s latest report, underage drinking among 8-15 year olds has decreased by 67% since 2003. In addition, binge drinking amongst 16-24 year olds was found to have fallen by 33% since 2005 and the number of alcohol-specific hospital admissions among under 18’s declined by 48% in the last decade. The report further stated that overall, the population has become more responsible in its consumption as 76% adults did not exceed 14 units a week.
