Comcast beats Fox to win Sky takeover auction

By Stephen Lepitak Comcast has beaten Fox to win the takeover bid for Sky, which is set to cost $39bn. The auction between the two media conglomerates saw the cable company win with a bid $3bn higher than its rival, owned by Rupert Murdoch, according to the takeover panel. The auction marked the end of a bidding war that began back in February. Murdoch already owned a 38% stake in Sky and had begun to lay claim to the full company as far back as December 2016. Peta takes aim at Donald Trump Jr with parody Halloween costume

By Taruka Srivastav People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) has mocked Donald Trump Jr by introducing a limited-edition Donald Trump Jr Halloween costume which pastiches a trophy-hunting photo that featured the Trump brothers grinning while clutching the body of a dead leopard. The Halloween stunt from the animal rights organisation includes a ‘bloody’ camouflage jacket (with a name tag reading, ‘half-cocked’) and a red cap bearing Trump Jr’s name. It also comes with a huge, plush leopard in a pouncing position. Through the sale, Peta aims to condemn trophy hunters and urge them to stop slaughtering animals. Twitch banned in China

By Taruka Srivastav China has allegedly blocked game streaming service Twitch as the Amazon-owned gaming platform gained popularity in the country. Twitch occupied the number three spot among free apps in China as it was the only platform to livestream e-sports matches at the Asian Games after the state-run broadcaster CCTV chose not to air the tournament. According to the Verge, the Twitch website has been unavailable in China since 20 September and its app has also been removed from the local Apple App Store.
