Betty White channels Smokey Bear as the icon turns 75

By Kyle O'Brien Sam Elliott has been the voice of Smokey Bear for over a decade, but in a new campaign honoring Smokey’s 75th birthday, an emoji version of the bear is being voiced by nonagenarian Betty White. In honor of Smokey’s 75th birthday today (9 August), a new public service announcement has been made by FCB New York and the Ad Council with White, who has lent her voice to a new animated emoji campaign. White joins other celebrities, including Stephen Colbert, Jeff Foxworthy and Al Roker in the emoji campaign, which started several months ago. Created and developed by Gravity Road, Gram Invader’s vibrantly toned 2D style is a throwback to 80s video games. WPP sees second-quarter improvement as new client wins bear fruit

By John Glenday The three-year turnaround plan underway at advertising giant WPP appears to be making some progress, according to its 2019 interim results, which were bolstered by new business from eBay, Instagram and L’Oréal. The holding company’s figures show that reported revenue rose 1.6% for the first half of the year, though like-for-like revenue was down by 0.6%. There were encouraging signs in the second quarter, however, which saw like-for-like revenue growth of 0.1%. Facebook U-turn sees it offer millions to license premium news content

By John Glenday Facebook has announced a dramatic change in policy in its approach to news organisations by announcing that it will pay to license content after all having previously attempted to introduce an ad-sharing model. The shift will be welcomed by premium content providers such as ABC News, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post which stand to make as much as $3m per year to supply articles for a planned news-focussed section of Facebook.
