Apple snaps up augmented reality specialists

By Seb Joseph Apple has acquired German technology business Metaio, which specialises in developing augmented reality applications. The deal was officially disclosed last week when the iPhone maker filed a document with a Munich court. It revealed Apple is now Metaio’s sole shareholder but did not disclose the fee. The augmented reality firm, which was originally spun out from Volkswagen in 2003, has had several previous investors. The company’s augmented reality software is used to overlay graphical enhancements onto products and environments in order to enhance the customer experience. Emirates becomes new FA Cup sponsor

Google patents a way search results could be affected by your accent

By Staff Writer Google has patented voice search technology which could see your results determined by your accent. According to Quartz, the patent awarded last week would allow for it to assess users’ accents and predict their preferences for restaurants, places, and movies based on the way they speak. ‘Accent-influenced search results’ would offer you results based on the data left by people with similar accents to you, including reviews they have left online.
