Verizon Media builds out Moments native ads to allow gaming, carousels and shopping

By John McCarthy Verizon Media has increased the capabilities of its Moments native advertising format to give marketers more options than before, opening up the format to new gaming, shopping, 360-degree and carousel products. JD.com and Rakuten combine forces to become drone powerhouse in Japan

The agreement will see Beijing-based JD.com combine its expertise in developing drones and autonomous delivery robots with Tokyo-based Rakuten’s expertise in drone delivery service operations in Japan, such as its dedicated shopping apps. Asda-Sainsbury’s merger in doubt amid competition concerns

By John Glenday A putative merger between two of Britain’s big six supermarket giants has been thrown into doubt after the UK competition regulator declared that it had ‘extensive concerns’ about the tie-up. Sainsbury’s had been due to takeover its erstwhile rival Asda but a detailed investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has raised fears that this could undermine competition in stores, online and on petrol forecourts. JD.com to shed 10% of top management as Chinese companies continue to suffer from economic uncertainty

The retrenchment was announced at the company’s annual party, according to Chinese news website Sina Tech, which cited unnamed sources. JD.com currently has more than 100 senior executives.
