More than 300 million tweets about the World Cup have been sent in the last two weeks, dwarfing the 150 million tweets sent during the 16 days of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The record number of tweets sent makes the World Cup one of the most talked about events of all time on the social networking site, with the opening match between Brazil and Croatia two weeks ago driving the most Twitter conversation so far with 12.2 million tweets sent.
